Whether you are looking to have genetic testing, have just been diagnosed with a BRCA mutation, or have been undergoing treatment for a long time, dealing with a medical hardship can be extremely difficult and overwhelming.  Our team at the BRCA center, a part of the Lenox Hill Hospital breast center, facilitates every step of your care from scheduling the initial consultation to your long term followup. Because of the wide ranging effects that a BRCA mutation can have on the body we apply a team approach to caring for our patients.

At your initial consultation you will meet with a patient navigator and a genetic counselor who will help coordinate your care and appointments. You will also have the opportunity to meet with physicians in various specialties depending on the care you need. We have assembled a team of experts uniquely qualified to diagnose and deliver all aspects of care required by patients with a BRCA mutation. All our physicians are fellowship trained and board certified in their specialties, which include: breast surgical oncology, gynecologic oncology, reconstructive plastic surgery, microsurgery, reproductive endocrinology, diagnostic radiology, radiation oncology, and medical oncology.

Depending on your individual circumstances you may need genetic testing and counseling, breast and ovarian cancer surveillance, fertility preservation, medical risk reduction, and/or surgical risk reduction. For some patients who are ready to proceed with surgery we are uniquely equipped to perform the breast and ovarian risk reduction surgery as well as breast reconstruction in a single "BRCA in a DAY" procedure.
